Those are our favorite from the collection. We most especially love the prints, reminds us of the now popular ankara fabric. There are also a lot of statement pieces in the collection both clothes and accessories that would look in our closet.

Our 100th post

“So many senior stories… The first one is about someone that I’m going to call Daxs. When we (junior students at that time) piss Dax off, he just brings out his belt , flogs you and demands you scream/sing: “I’m loving it” at the top of your voice. I think Daxs got it from the mcdonalds adverts”.

LMAO. That “I’m loving it” part killed me. Anyway, his story continues:

“Once upon a time, at the exclusive Topaz house dining table, I was asked by a certain senior, let’s call him Teeee.P, to run an errand (can’t remember what it was, possibly to get extra bread or something). Without thinking, I immediately obeyed, I mean you do not want to mess with an SS3 student when you are in JS2. Anyway, on my way to get the bread oh, the late Mr Nwigwe (may his soul R.I.P) asked me to go and sit down, so I did. I mean a teacher is higher than a student right? So I thought to myself when Teeee.P asks me for his stuff, I’ll just tell him “a teacher told me to sit down”. I thought wrong, Teeee.P grabbed me while I was leaving and spoke these words to me , after I explained what had happened: “think about things boy, I can beat you up while the teacher won’t, so obey me!”. I left that day confused!”

Okay these seniors are just something else. Think about things boy? Lmao. I feel like if someone said that to me, I would just burst out laughing in their face. At my own peril, of course.

“Random funny moment, SS3’s got the freshers (Js1 boys) to hold each other’s waists and dance to slow music. I almost died. 
The guy I’m talking about now is a legend. This scene happened in the same Topaz dining hall. It was a Jollof rice evening, meaning everyone was happy and ready to devour all the meat, rice and coleslaw. Girls didn’t front for boys on those J.rice evenings (I wish I could mention names). There were about 20 pieces of meat served on each table of 10 people. On this certain day, every single piece of meat was spoilt, I could even tell by the smell that was coming from the bowl. I was very disappointed after rushing to get there early so that I could say “after you” to some grubber who managed to get the before me…”

Saying “I’m after you” was standard protocol for everything in our high school. If an item could be passed around, someone was ALWAYS lining up after somebody else to use it. Popular items that you could be “after” somebody for include but are not limited to: food, showers, pens, high tea basket, girls. The story continues:

“…every other person on my table except for this one senior, refused to touch the meat. This great senior, with the gut of a pig, ate almost all the pieces of meat. After he had eaten about 8 pieces, the school’s caterer came in to inform of us that the meat was spoilt and that no one should eat the meat. The senior didn’t care because by this time, he had eaten about 16 pieces. By the time I got back to the boarding house, all the toilets were full, people were busy all night. I wonder what kind of diarrhea that senior had that night. And that’s all I have for now!

Christmas with the Ogunbors

We had the best tree in Lagos this Christmas, so if you thought your tree was all that I’m sorry to break it to you but it wasn’t! :p
There was a day I just randomly found  myself staring at the tree changing color, so I decided to take pictures!

By now you should already know I come from a very close knit family so if ever we have a celebration, it’s just going to be us. We celebrated Christmas in my brothers house, his first christmas as a married man lol. The night before we did the whole secret santa thing, I got a set of pearl earrings and a necklace from Dupe (my first brother’s wife). It was really great. We plan on spending Christmas at a different person’s house every year, so next should be my sister!

My cousin and his fiance!! They’re so cute, beautiful babies on the way!!!

His reason was because there are actually some people he only sees on the 1st of January each year because they are coming to eat in his house or most of them are strangers who did “mo gbo mo ya”, came to eat and don’t even know who’s celebrating what! Spending money to cater to a bunch of people when the money could have been used for something better, it was a very wise decision. (also because it relieved me of serious errands, all those aunties & uncles that always want one thing or the other during family occasions, there are hired caterers there oh but no… they want Eki to bring the plate of food, maltina and gbo gbo e… mscheew).

I honestly can’t remember where I saw this quote, but it goes; ‘’Fashion is what you are offered four times a year, style is what you pick out of that fashion’’. My style surely incorporates some fashion trends but definitely doesn’t always go by it. I like to believe that I have a very simple sense of style. My style is greatly influenced but not totally determined by a lot of people around me. I think style is timeless and doesn’t change as often as fashion does.

Tell us about a few of your favourite things

Rings – My rings, oh my rings! I’m building a collection, but I’m surely not there yet. I love different types of rings; the small, the large, the double-fingered.

Shoes – Oh shoes! A girl can NEVER have too many pairs of shoes. Both heeled shoes and flats. For me, heels have always been over 5inches or nothing but I’m starting to love the mid heels as well; Zara has some pretty dope ones. And then flats for me are my loafers, brogues, dollys and my Toms J

Handbags – I always thought I was more of a shoe girl, but now I can’t really decide. I feel every lady should have that ONE bag that works with everything. For me it would be a structured tote bag, preferably not in black. And I love vintage purses as well.

Vintage clothing – My love for vintage clothing sort of robbed off from one of my best friends Omowunmi. (Check out her vintage store here http://www.daisymakvintage.com/) Vintage screams style for me; it’s very elegant and classy.

Make-up – It is so interesting! My favourite make up items are
-MAC Studio Fix
-MAC Technakohl Liner
-MAC Ruby Woo (Lipstick)
-Sleek Flushed and Sahara Blushes
-Sleek Cherry (Lipstick)

Perfume – A girl has to smell nice! You just have to. My favourite perfume is Angel by Thierry Mugler but I still don’t own it, I honestly don’t know why :s  It smells pure and sensual at the same time, I honestly just think it’s insane!

Nail Polish – Also building my collection, I’d have to visit Eki’s room to steal some and complete my collection, she has over 50 bottles!

Bracelets – I Love bracelets as well, I used to be a collector basically because I liked the idea of me wearing something on my wrist that reminds me of someone that’s important to me. I love woven bracelets and possibly inscribed bracelets.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Balm & Vaseline Hand and Nail Moisturiser.

Body Shop body scrub and body butter (the pink grapefruit is my fave)

Favourite Place to shop and why?

Forever 21: For now, I don’t think the ones in England are doing them much justice, but they will do for now. I love their urban clothing
Vintage/Thrift stores : you find the best bargains for the most amazing clothing. COW is a pretty dope Vintage store I know there are two in Birmingham and one in Sheffield.
Primark and HnM – Affordable but most times you’ve got to be patient and have your eyes OPENED.
Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins – They all stock the same things to me as they are all owned by the same person, but will never disappoint you in terms of picking up the latest piece of clothing in fashion at the moment.
ONLINE – Online shopping will NOT be the death of me! *I hear your resounding Amens* ASOS, and all the others.

Style Inspirations/Icons :

Olivia Palermo: Honestly If I could steal her wardrobe I would. (This is not a joke) She has AH-MA-ZEENNNGGGG style. I think so because her style is fairly simple but always fabulous. Tailored pieces and some key elegant pieces and she’s good to go. She never looks like she’s over done it and that’s what I love most about her style.

Solange – She just constantly oozes swaguu! Her style is cutting edge and quirky. A lot of bright colours, patterns and accessories. I think she’s really cool. Check out her blog mydamnblog.com

I read ALOT of blogs and surely get inspiration from these.

One Secret/advice to others on style & looking good:

Don’t be afraid to try new things. I constantly tell myself this and I find that a lot of people I know are afraid of trying out new things mainly because of what other people will think, what you feel comfortable in and find appealing is all that matters.

‘’Fashion fades but style is eternal’’ This quote by Yves Saint Laurent is in itself self explanatory.

Ultimate Fashion DO and Don’t:

Do: Do try new things, you’d never know until you tried. Shop around for ideas on things that have to do with your style and always go with your instincts.

Don’t: Don’t over-do it; Simplicity truly is the ultimate form of sophistication. Don’t dress in clothes that make you feel uncomfortable, be rest assured everyone else would be able to tell you feel this way.
